The stand-alone rustic chunky shelves are fixed to the wall with metal brackets. The main brackets we use are raw, industrial style steel brackets which are really sturdy and compliment the rich tones of the chunky wood shelves. There are three main bracket styles we use in our collection. The “Industrial Down Bracket” , the “Industrial Up Bracket” and the more contemporary looking “Hairpin” brackets, (all of which can be seen in the below referenced pictures). For kitchens we recommend one of the Industrial style bracket options. It’s clear to see they are capable of more load and can easily hold all of your favourite cook books alongside a lushcious draping house plant. Practicality and rustic style, a trend that’s going nowhere for a while in the interior design world… partner these with a tiled backdrop or trendy green matt paint from the likes or Lick and you’ll be featured in Times Property in no time.

These two styles are most likely to be the ones you’ll see in the trendy kitchens that are all over instagram at the moment. Perfect for displaying pots & pans, token kitchen ornaments such as a beautiful antique pair of weighing scales – you get the idea…
Practical huh!
We move on to something a little more delicate with the hairpin shelf bracket. These elegant triangular shaped brackets work incredibly well with reclaimed wood, and compliment a more contemporary space. Perfect for bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms, and equally as stylish but a little less load bearing as the industrial style brackets. You’ll have to be more selective with your usage, they would definitely suit a minimalist looking for the perfect place to position a house plant alongside a candle or two..

Ahh, the classic floating chunky shelf. Rustic chunky shelves secured discretely to your wall with floating shelf fixings can make such a fresh and bold impact to any room. These offer a surprising amount of sturdiness to your shelf and require a reasonably low level of DIY skills. A very popular choice among DIY lovers!

How do we go about choosing a colour findings that will work with the colour palette of your room? The most common question we get! If you already have wood furniture in your room then this will be your main driver. Lets say your wood furniture is at an acceptable level of cohesion and the main colour is a warm mid-tone, you defiantly need to be considering a warm mid-tone finish for your rustic shelves. Medium Oak, Walnut or our exclusive Galleon Oak finish should be shortlisted for your final decision. Make sure you check out our “What Wood Colour” guide which goes into more detail.
